The Unification Church connection has been picked up by major media outlets (though yet to appear on the english language websites of the major newspapers)

Someone has put up a video of the meeting where Abe's congratulatory telegram was read out on YouTube and here.

There is also news footage from TBS (who else) on this topic. Most likely this one is infringing on copyright, and whilst I don't condone copyright theft in any shape or form, could this be construed to be "fair use"?

I wonder how long these are going to stay up. (The TBS footage shouldn't last long, if TBS are fair and balanced about copyright enforcement…..)

well, the videos are still there, btw. I was reminded of them from this Mainichi WaiWai (Shukan Asahi) piece about You Tube, which mentions the first video in the 7th paragraph:

I like how in the TBS piece Abe uses the “private citizen” excuse (where have we heard that before!).

The Moonie video seems to be of two speeches. Interestingly, only in the second one is Hidenao Nakagawa mentioned. Nakagawa was of course the former Chief Cabiney Secretary forced to resign during the Mori administration (still “number 3″ in the LDP heirarcy), and someone rumored to have ties with right-wing extremists (granted, saying that some members of the LDP have extremist right-wing ties is a bit like saying some cherry blossom trees are known to bloom in Spring!)
